Honorable Mentions

Florida Gators

Last meeting: 1929
All-time series: Florida leads 1-0

The Gators and Ducks have played only one time in their history, with that game taking place in Miami, Florida way back in 1929, it was claimed the conditions were so extreme for Oregon players that they had to take their jerseys off as a result of the heat.

With the Gators scheduling quite a few series’ against (now outgoing) Pac-12 teams like Utah, Colorado, California and Arizona State, it wouldn’t be surprising to see the Ducks and Gators playing in a home and home series, especially with the Ducks now having more ways to handle the weather in the Sunshine State and potentially taking a series lead.

Clemson Tigers

Last meeting: Never played
All-time series: 0-0

The Tigers may no longer be the force they were in the mid to late 2010’s, but it would be a great matchup of teams who are usually considered the strongest forces in conferences perceived as “weak” and have had ups and downs, even after the Tigers’ recent fall from competing for national championships.

Oregon’s Autzen Stadium and Clemson’s Memorial Stadium are also two of the most well-known stadiums in terms of home-field advantage, and the Ducks and Tigers both being used to loud sounds would make this matchup even more intriguing.

Also, both Dan Lanning and Dabo Swinney are usually listed as big candidates for Alabama’s head coach position once Nick Saban is no longer there, so maybe this matchup would help get a clearer picture for who takes the job?
