2. Dabo Swinney, Clemson

Paul Finebaum mentioned Dabo Swinney as a candidate for the Texas A&M football job. Swinney has already denied that he has an interest, but that’s what coaches always do.

However, Swinney should have an interest. It seems like Clemson has achieved all it can under Dabo and the program just feels stuck in neutral at this point.

The win over Notre Dame a couple of weeks ago was nice, but it’s far from proof that Clemson can get back to where it was.

Texas A&M football would offer Swinney unparalleled resources to compete with the Alabama and Georgia’s of the world on the recruiting trail. It would also make him part of one of the two major college football conferences: the SEC.

Yet, the Aggies would be smart to never call Dabo. His program looks like they are stuck in the Stone Age on offense and the defense has started dropping off too.

Frankly, if Dabo was hired, my guess is that it would work out just as well as the last big-name ACC head coach hired by the Aggies which was Jimbo Fisher from Florida State.

I don’t see Texas A&M making that mistake again.
