Big Ten

Dec. 2 at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.

The Big Ten has two divisions, East and West, whose regular season champions face off in the championship. The East is populated with two of the three best teams in college football and the West is headed by No. 16 Iowa currently at 5-2, while everyone else is below .500.

Eligible Teams in the East:

    1. Michigan (7-0)
Clinching scenario: Win vs. Ohio State on Nov. 25.
    2. Ohio State (7-0)
Clinching scenario: Win at Michigan on Nov. 25

By my count, if Michigan loses at Maryland and beats Ohio State, they hold the head-to-head tiebreaker over Ohio State who would also be one loss in that scenario, and vice versa if Ohio State loses vs. Minnesota.

Eligible Teams in the West:

  1. Iowa (5-2)
Clinching scenario: Win vs. Illinois or Nebraska loss at Wisconsin and Minnesota loss at Ohio State.
  2. Nebraska (3-4)
Staying-Alive-Scenario: Win at Wisconsin and Iowa loss vs. Illinois (They will need a Minnesota loss at some point).
  3. Illinois (3-4)
Staying-Alive-Scenario: Win at Iowa and Nebraska loss at Wisconsin (They hold the tiebreaker over Minnesota).
  4. Minnesota (3-4)
Staying-Alive-Scenario: Win at Ohio State and Iowa loses vs. Illinois (They will need an Illinois loss next week vs. Northwestern).

Big Ten divisional tiebreaker procedure.
