With a chance to make a statement by picking up the biggest win of the week in college football, Washington followed through.

Michael Penix Jr. and the Huskies didn’t exactly dominate No. 11 Oregon State on the road, but they controlled the game for the most part and won by two, 22-20. This one got tight late but the Washington defense was the unit that stepped up on a night when offense was at a premium.

Did Penix have his Heisman hopes crushed with just 162 yards and two touchdowns on 13-of-28 completions (the weather didn’t help)? No, but they took a hit and I think Penix would be the first one to tell you that he doesn’t care as long as the Huskies win.

Washington is now an Apple Cup win away from finishing the 2023 season undefeated. Kalen DeBoer is about to get a major pay raise this offseason.
