Alabama had a bye week, of sorts, as the Tide hosted Chattanooga on Saturday afternoon and cruised to a blowout win.

The Tide jumped out to a 21-0 lead in the first quarter and never slowed down. They added 17 points in the second quarter and broke the 50-point mark midway through the third quarter. To say that this game was never close would be an understatement.

But it doesn’t really matter, it seems. The playoff committee hasn’t given the Tide any respect for manhandling teams like Tennessee, LSU, and Kentucky in recent weeks, so Alabama could win by 100 against Chattanooga and they wouldn’t be moved.

I’m not sure what this team needs to do in order to move up in the rankings, but I have a hard time believing that there are seven better teams in the country this season.
