2. Jahiem White is a special talent

The 2023 version of the West Virginia Mountaineers loves to run the football. Coming into the matchup one of the storylines was which team would have more success running the football. West Virginia ran for 424 yards and 5 touchdowns on 46 carries. Cincinnati ran for 153 yards. One of our bold predictions was that West Virginia would eclipse 275 yards on the ground. They did that and a whole lot more.

While CJ Donaldson Jr. was a limited participant in this one due to injury, freshman Jahiem White had 204 yards and a touchdown on the ground. On top of that, he caught one pass and converted it into the Mountaineers’ longest play from scrimmage this season, good for 75 yards and a touchdown.

White was one of the biggest names mentioned in the preseason and he has not disappointed. Mountaineer fans have something to be very excited about as they begin to look ahead to next season. The running back duo of CJ Donaldson Jr. and Jahiem White will look to build upon a solid season running the football.

Jahiem White’s notable performances:

  • vs. Cincinnati — 204 rushing yards | 21 carries | 1 rushing TD | 1 75-yard TD reception | 9.7 yards per carry
  • vs. BYU — 146 rushing yards | 16 carries | 9.1 yards per carry
  • vs. Duquesne — 110 rushing yards | 12 carries | 1 rushing TD | 9.2 yards per carry
  • vs. UCF — 85 rushing yards | 9 carries | 1 rushing TD | 9.4 yards per carry
