9. TCU (5-6, 3-5 conference)

This season has been a wild ride for the Horned Frogs. They started the season ranked and ready to avenge their playoff spot from last year. Yet they have only three total wins in the conference and are at risk of being bowl-eligible. They played well against Baylor, but that may have been more about the Bears’ defense rather than the TCU offense. Their running game improved vastly in the red zone, with four rushing touchdowns in the game. They take on Oklahoma in Norman in a rare Friday morning kickoff.

8. West Virginia (7-4, 5-3 conference)

West Virginia dominated their game against Cincinnati. Even though they didn’t score in the 4th quarter, this game was finished by the third. Quarterback Garrett Greene had 210 passing yards and ran for 154 and 3 touchdowns. He was the clear MVP of the game, carrying the rushing and passing game on his back. The Mountaineers head to Waco for their matchup against Baylor in week 13.

7. Texas Tech (6-5, 5-3 conference)

Another Big 12 team that has been an enigma this season. While they were preseason dark horses to win the conference, they just became bowl-eligible with their win over UCF. Quarterback Behren Morton threw for 256 yards, 2 touchdowns, and one interception. Running back
Tahj Brooks also had a textbook day, rushing for 182 yards and a touchdown. The Red Raiders face the Longhorns in Austin on Saturday.
