Alabama

The Crimson Tide can truly throw a wrench into things by beating Georgia. But would that guarantee Alabama a berth in the College Football Playoff?

It’s hard to see them getting left out after beating Georgia. Yet, they would have a head-to-head loss to Texas. Yet, Ohio State had a head-to-head loss to Penn State in 2016 but was still ranked higher, although Penn State had two losses.

Head-to-head is a tiebreaker, but it’s not a guarantee to be ranked ahead, which is a good thing for Alabama. Honestly, Alabama just needs to win and for Florida State to lose. Then you’d have Michigan and the Pac-12 champ, plus two spots for Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State, and Texas.

It could easily be Alabama and Georgia in that scenario. Or Alabama and Texas but I don’t see Alabama left out in that scenario.

If Florida State, Michigan, and the Pac-12 champ have berths locked up after wins, and it comes down to Texas, Alabama, Ohio State, and Georgia — that’s one hell of a decision. I have to believe Alabama gets the nod, much to the chagrin of Texas fans.
