5. Miami

The Hurricanes have talent and they have been doing a great job of landing five-star players on the recruiting trail like with the recent flip of Justin Scott from Ohio State.

But the Hurricanes need a new quarterback. Tyler Van Dyke is leaving and Mario Cristobal really needs a good season in 2024. With the 12-team playoff now a reality, every Power-5 college football program will have playoff aspirations, especially one spending like Miami.

That NIL power gives the Hurricanes a chance, but if I was Cameron Ward, I’d have some other teams higher on the list.

4. Washington

It would be wild to leave from one rival to another, but in this new era of the transfer portal, you can’t count anything out. The Huskies are going to need a replacement for Michael Penix Jr.

Ward has seen the quarterback development of Penix under head coach Kalen DeBoer, so that would have to be a major selling point. Washington will also be in a different conference and Ward wouldn’t even have to leave the state of Washington.

Rivalries still mean something though right? Plus Will Rogers just got a transfer crystal ball to the Huskies from 247 Sports.
