Matt Rhule and Nebraska are also searching high-and-low in the transfer portal for a quarterback. The Huskers have been connected to numerous passers already including Will Howard.

It remains to be seen if they would be willing to fork out the NIL money required to land Kyle McCord, but the former five-star could be the multi-year option Rhule was talking about last week.

McCord will have at least one more season. He’s played at a high level in the Big Ten conference and he’s also from Pennsylvania — a place where Rhule has lots of ties not only from his time as the head coach of Temple but also his days of playing at Penn State.

McCord is exactly the kind of quarterback that Nebraska needs. Playing for the Huskers would also mean playing Ohio State next season and I’m not sure if McCord wants to do that. He also said “The Game” was just another game, which makes you wonder how he’d handle the pressure of playing quarterback for Nebraska football.

If you look at the defense coming back, as well as the way Nebraska football was able to run the ball, if McCord was the quarterback last season, the Huskers might have won the Big Ten West, so it could make sense for both sides.
