2. CFP semifinal: Sugar Bowl (No. 2 Washington vs. No. 3 Texas)

The Sugar Bowl this year features two teams that are moving conferences next fall: the 2nd-ranked Washington Huskies (13-0, Pac-12 champions) and the 3rd-ranked Texas Longhorns (12-1, Big 12 champions). Next fall, Washington will be in the Big Ten, and Texas will be in the SEC.

For the time being, however, none of that matters — all that matters for these two college football giants is surviving and advancing to the national championship game, something that neither team has done in the CFP era.

Washington looked very good against Oregon, though it was clear that the Huskies have some work to do on both sides of the football, especially since they almost blew an early lead against the Ducks in the last-ever Pac-12 title game.

Texas, on the other hand, comes into the game after an incredible performance against Oklahoma State in the Big 12 title game — one that jumped the Longhorns up from No. 7 to No. 3. A major reason that Texas isn’t at No. 4 right now is because Alabama made it in at the bottom spot, and the Longhorns have a two-score win over Bama from earlier this year.

Is Texas back? We shall see, but this one should be a thriller either way.
