5 coaches that could be next up in the CFB coaching carousel

#4: Dave Clawson, Wake Forest
Speaking of the importance of consistency, we have Wake Forest’s Dave Clawson, who is quite possibly the best definition of the term amongst today’s subjects.
Before stooping down to 4-8 in 2023, the Demon Deacons had gone bowling for seven years straight, with five of those instances resulting in victories. The postseason stretch was their longest to date, and saw things get as hot as winning the ACC’s Atlantic division and making the conference’s 2021 title game (only Wake’s second-ever appearance on that stage).
A coach will garner a fair amount of clout regardless of where he hits such milestones, but to do so at a football university as underdeveloped as Wake Forest makes Clawson one of the Power 4’s most attractive coaching options on paper.
When analyzing all he’s accomplished at a school that scares off the vast majority of elite recruits and is currently trudging behind multiple in-state rivals, we can’t help but wonder where his limits would lie under more ideal circumstances. No need to fret, though—especially if he and his Deacs can bounce back from their latest display, we might not have to wonder much longer.
