If you’re not happy with your playing time at a major program, or they’re not happy with you, then give Rhett Lashlee a call. SMU took 11 incoming transfers, all from Power Five schools including two from Oklahoma, two from Miami, and one apiece from Ohio State, Oregon, and Georgia. That’s how you prepare for a transition to the Power Five, get elite athletes who underperformed, or didn’t get a chance to perform.

Lashlee primarily built in the trenches, but despite the pedigree of this group, it doesn’t come with much production. Defensive lineman Mike Lockhart from West Virginia finished 2023 with just 2.5 sacks and 21 tackles, and Anthony Booker who played on Arkansas’s defensive line for five seasons only managed 19 tackles and a half sack last year.
