The degree of difficulty for Marcus Mariota’s numbers may not be that great since this was against Washington State, and the Cougars were definitely robbed after a controversial no-call on an obvious pass interference,  but none of that can take away how efficient Mariota was. This time his efficiency showed in a close game that went down to the end, which is rare for an Oregon team that has been blowing people out.

For Mariota to complete 84 percent of his passes for 5 touchdowns and 0 interceptions along with 329 yards and 58 rushing yards is remarkable no matter who you’re playing. He did his part to help the Ducks fend off what could have been a devastating upset. Oregon has now moved to 4-0 and 1-0 in the Pac 12, and after Saturday’s late night win, Mariota has kept himself in the Heisman talk. It’s well-deserved, and he and his team also get a well-deserved rest before a Thursday night showdown with Arizona in two weeks as the next game.
