Amidst all the hype of National Signing Day, many teams and their fan bases are understandably extremely excited about what their coaching staffs were able to accomplish. After all, great recruiting classes are usually the lifebloods of programs.

But there are quite a few college football schools who don’t need great recruiting classes and just continue to win because they run a great system. Many of these schools could be mid-majors, all of these schools have competed for national championships, and they all have entered the national title conversation at different times while winning their respective conferences multiple times.

Unfortunately, none of these teams have won the national championships in the modern era of college football, but they have all managed to stay relevant, and three of them had undefeated seasons in the BCS era following the beginning of online recruiting services.

And before long, one of these teams is likely to win the national championship with the implementation of the College Football Playoff and the way they always stay in the mix.
