The Penn State Nittany Lions had their Blue-White game on Saturday and Christian Hackenberg looks poised for a stellar junior season .

Penn State closed their spring practice with the annual Blue-White game from Happy Valley on Saturday and the team looks ready to take off in the second year under head coach James Franklin.

More from Big Ten

The first year under Franklin, who replaced Bill O’Brien who left to take the Houston Texans job after two seasons, had some positives, like the school having their bowl ban lifted and winning the Pinstripe Bowl, but also some negatives like 15 interceptions from star quarterback Christian Hackenberg and far too many sacks.

But the second year should see improvements across the board with the team more comfortable with Franklin’s style and while depth is still a concern, the play of Hackenberg could lift the Nittany Lions to potential double-digit win territory if the rest of his teammates take a similar leap as he.

Hackenberg struggled as a sophomore after winning Big Ten Freshman of the Year honors after coming to Penn State as the No. 1 quarterback recruit in the country, but after an impressive showing in the Pinstripe Bowl and good spring, he’s ready to make a case for the top quarterback in the country.

Check out the highlights from the Penn State spring game below and let us know your expectations for Hackenberg and the rest of the Nittany Lions this year.
