Cage is the No. 105 overall player in the class of ’17, the No. 8 defensive tackle, and the No. 4 prospect in the state of Ohio per the 247Sports Composite Rankings.

He was recruited by cornerbacks coach Kerry Coombs while Larry Johnson, who doubles as the assistant head coach and defensive line coach assumed the role of secondary recruiter. Receiving five offers in total, he carried offers from Cincinnati, Illinois, Kentucky, and Louisville in addition to the Buckeyes.

On the Ohio State front, Cage was visited by Coombs and Johnson on May 15, and then again on May 22. He attended a camp on June 16 and that same day, he was offered by the program. Now his recruitment has come to an end as he has called Columbus home.

With this commitment, the Buckeye ’17 class is shaping up nicely. With eight commitments in total, six of them four-star players, the class ranks No 1 nationally in both the country and the Big Ten per the 247Sports Team Rankings.

Cage will be a tremendous asset to the program. He possesses tremendous speed and as soon as the ball is snapped, he explodes out of his crouch and immediately begins to pursue the ball carrier. Tackling is also a strong asset of his game as he wraps up and makes the solid tackle and not going for the big hit or trying to make a flashy play. At 6-foot-3, 275 pounds, ball carriers have a hard time evading him.

Ohio State continues to stockpile as they add a recruit in Cage and with the Friday Night Lights camp on Friday there could be more commitments coming soon for the Buckeyes.
