Ohio State Recruiting: 4-star DE Terrell Hall decommits from Buckeyes

Ohio State has the nation’s No. 1 recruiting class this year and next year, but they lost one of their blue-chip recruits to a decommitment on Monday.

Urban Meyer has had a relatively smooth road on the recruiting trail since winning the national championship in January. In fact OSU has the top ranked recruiting class in the entire country on all four major recruiting services.

Especially impressive has been the defensive line haul that included three top 150 defensive ends. Which as we now know may have been one too many for one of the guys committed. Terrell Hall (Washington, DC St. John’s College) a four-star recruit is the nation’s No. 144 overall recruit, No. 10 defensive end and the No. 2 recruit in the nation’s capital, according to the 247 Sports Composite Rankings and decided to decommit from Ohio State on Monday.

Hall most likely will not end up being a Buckeye and that is a blow to OSU. He visited Alabama twice in the last month at his own expense. Those trips were just for fun and to go with a high school teammate according to Hall have a much different tune now.

At the very least the Alabama trips showed him he may have committed to OSU too early having done so back on March 2. Seeing what other schools have to offer him is tempting for a high school athlete and maybe he was feeling the pressure to commit when he did.

It is too early to tell if OSU will continue to recruit Hall but odds are this move is final as more times than not a recruit never recommits to a school they previously dropped. Having said that though not every school is Ohio State and not every school has Meyer.

Other schools that will be heavily targeting Hall are be Maryland, Penn State, and Alabama. Whoever lands Hall will be getting a gem of a player.
