Georgia’s Isaiah McKenzie goes human joystick on Vanderbilt (Video)

Georgia wide receiver and kick returner Isaiah McKenzie is nicknamed the “Human Joystick” and the Vanderbilt Commodores got their taste of his bump-button on this punt return.

Special teams can be the great equalizer, and after Georgia kicker Marshall Morgan shanked what would normally be a pretty easy field goal attempt, the Commodores took over and, being Vanderbilt, did what they do best in the last two years, and that’s punt the ball.

Enter McKenzie…hit “left bump” for acceleration.

That 77-yard punt return put the Bulldogs up 7-0 in a game where they are favored by 21 over their SEC East rivals. Nothing really outlandish as far as moves, but the acceleration that McKenzie has left a few jock straps stranded on the field.

Georgia head coach Mark Richt said prior to this game that fans would probably see a lot of McKenzie on kickoff and punt returns, and I’m not sure anyone in the Bulldog Nation will have a big problem with that. Now if the Bulldogs can get themselves a quarterback who can throw the ball downfield, McKenzie could really become a huge weapon.

This was McKenzie’s first ever punt or kick return for a touchdown. If he shows that type of elusiveness, he’ll certainly have a few more before his college career is over.
