Georgia football fans are once again showing their privilege, going all in on the Carson Beck hate train in the first quarter of the Dawgs’ game against Ball State.

If anyone — Georgia football fan or otherwise — thought that Carson Beck would simply step in and be everything Stetson Bennett was from the jump, they were fooling themselves.

While Beck did manage to emerge as the starter in a heated quarterback battle for the Bulldogs this year, fans seem to be quick to forget how much Stetson Bennett struggled early in his career.

Beck, by all accounts, had a good Week 1 against UT Martin, throwing for 294 yards and leading the Dawgs to a victory in his first start.

Week 2 didn’t start off very smoothly for Beck, who fumbled in the red zone of the Dawgs’ first drive (recovered by Georgia), and he’s looked less than comfortable against an active Ball State defensive line.

Cue the armchair and keyboard Georgia head coaches, who want to see either Brock Vandagriff or Gunner Stockton taking the snaps (with some carryover hate from last week for offensive coordinator Mike Bobo).

The tweets went on, and on, and on, and on…

You’d think after three College Football Championship Game appearances and two consecutive national titles, the Georgia faithful would learn to trust their coach.

The passion is admirable, but fans are probably jumping the gun a bit.

(Note: As I’m writing this, Beck drove the Dawgs 78 yards to a touchdown in just over two minutes, with a drive-capping pass to Marcus Rosemy-Jacksaint
