Louisville’s James Quick made a shoulder pad catch against the Wolfpack Saturday that opened some eyes.

Let’s face it. It is hard enough to catch a football nevermind securing one with your pads. However, that is exactly what Louisville wide receiver James Quick did in the Cardinals’ 20-13 win over North Carolina State on Saturday. To the average person, the catch is a difficult one to make, however Quick made it look routine.

Particularly with the rainy conditions at N.C. State (and all over the Northeast for that matter), this is a great grab. Looking up into the rain to catch a pass is anything but easy and keeping the ball on your shoulder pad requires some serious concentration.  Luckily for Quick, he had both luck and talent at his disposal as he made what was a candidate for the catch of the game.

The junior has had a stellar season to this point, catching seven passes for 97 yards and a touchdown. One of his better games came against Samford back on September 26 as he caught three passes for 69 yards and a touchdown.

In today’s game against the Wolfpack, he proved to be a dependable target, snagging four passes for 44 yards, averaging a first down per catch.

For his career, he has caught 49 passes for 736 yards and four touchdowns, and has proven to be a key supplementary piece for the Cardinals’ offense.

Louisville has now won two contests in a row after starting the season 0-3. The upset win for the Cardinals means that N.C State now falls to 4-1 on the season. Today’s game just proves that anything is possible in college football.
