Florida State Football: Jimbo Fisher has ‘no intentions’ of leaving for another job

Florida State Seminoles head coach Jimbo Fisher says he has no intentions of leaving for another job.

Jimbo Fisher makes it a policy not to talk about other jobs, but he made it clear to Florida State President James Thrasher that he has “no intentions” of leaving, according to Tom D’Angelo of the Palm Beach Post.

“Sources have told the Post that Fisher, whose name has been connected to the expected opening at LSU, has made it clear he is happy with the administration, the support he receives and the direction of the program, and has no intentions of leaving Florida State for another coaching job at this time.”

It would be easy to say he has no intentions to leave for LSU because there is no vacancy there yet and he hasn’t been offered millions of dollars to fill the position, yet. Could Fisher have a different comment after the weekend?

He has connections to the program after coaching quarterbacks and running the offense for Nick Saban and later Miles before leaving LSU to join Bobby Bowden’s staff at Florida State in 2007. It’s been reported LSU would pursue Fisher to fill the expected opening.

Fisher is 67-13 as head coach of the Seminoles since replacing Bowden after his retirement in 2010 and won three straight ACC Championships the previous three years, including the BCS National Championship two years ago.

His recruiting classes annually rank among the best in the nation and Florida State has sent waves of players to the NFL Draft under his watch.

LSU may or may not be a better job than Florida State, but it sure would be difficult to leave a program where he’d have an easier path to a national championship than at LSU. But in any event, these comments from Fisher won’t do much to quiet the rumor mill.
