2016 Football Recruiting Class Rankings: Rivals team rankings
The recruiting class rankings are in after a flurry of commitments on National Signing Day and there’s a familiar school on top of Rivals team rankings.
It’s the Alabama Crimson Tide finishing with the nation’s top recruiting class, according to Rivals after Nick Saban’s team added 23 new players to the program, including five, five-star recruits.
Alabama is used to being in the top spot of the recruiting class rankings but they were closer to No. 10 than No. 1 when the day began due to several of their top targets waiting until signing day to make their announcement. It added a bit of intrigue and drama to the day to see if the Tide could close on the likes of LSU and Florida State and they sure did.
The Crimson Tide picked up Shyheim Carter, Jared Mayden, Joshua Jacobs, Ben Davis, Mack Wilson and Terrell Hall as they had arguably the best day of any school today. They didn’t have the biggest class with 23 new additions but their average ranking shows their quality trumps quantity.
Coming in a close second was Jimbo Fisher and the Florida State Seminoles who had just as impressive of a signing day as the Tide. Rounding out the top five are Ohio State, Michigan and Clemson.
The LSU Tigers had a shot to finish with the No. 1 class if things went their way on signing day, but Les Miles and the Bayou Bengals didn’t hit a home run today, but will have to settle for a stand-up double with the addition of five-star cornerback Kristian Fulton.
