Houston wide receiver Linell Bonner got the opening college football weekend off to a great start with a jaw-dropping catch on the sideline.

College football is finally back, which means that there are already some early candidates for Catch of the Year from players like Houston wide receiver Linell Bonner.

The No. 15 Houston Cougars took on the No. 3 Oklahoma Sooners to open their season on Saturday. Things got off to a strong start in the first half with the Cougars heading into the locker room at halftime with a 19-17 lead.

The Cougars were able to take the lead into halftime thanks to a solid two-minute drill to end the first half. It looked like the Cougars weren’t going to come away with anything in their final drive, but senior QB Greg Ward Jr. was able to escape the pocket on third down and somehow find Bonner on the sideline.

At first, it appeared that Ward was simply throwing the ball away, but Bonner was somehow able to keep a foot in bounds while he stretched out and reeled the ball in. Here’s a couple of videos of the amazing catch from Bonner.

Bonner finished the half with four catches for 63 yards in the first half, while Ward Jr. went 15-for-28 with 257 yards and a touchdown to help the Cougars hold a 19-17 lead at halftime.
