Iowa vs Minnesota live stream: Watch Hawkeyes vs Golden Gophers online
Here’s how you can watch Saturday afternoon’s Iowa vs Minnesota game from Minneapolis online.
Iowa has been one of the major disappointments of the 2016 season thus far. The Hawkeyes are coming off a Big Ten Championship and Rose Bowl appearance in 2015 and yet they can’t seem to string a few wins together, starting the year 3-2 with losses to North Dakota State and Northwestern.
C.J. Beathard needs to step up his level of play throughout the rest of the year. He hasn’t been terrible, but for a guy who was considered to be a top-three quarterback in the Big Ten, he’s underperforming. He has passed for 945 yards and nine touchdowns with two interceptions, but he’s certainly capable of more.
Beathard is going to have to rely more on George Kittle going forward as his top receiver, Matt VandeBerg, could be out the rest of the season. The run game will look to pick up the offense, though, as Akrum Wadley and LeShun Daniels Jr. have been a dynamic duo.
Minnesota, on the other hand, is 3-1 to start the season, but the Golden Gophers are coming off a tough loss against Penn State in overtime. This team might not be one of the powers of the conference, but that doesn’t mean it can’t play the role of dark-horse.
Like the Hawkeyes, the Golden Gophers have a veteran quarterback leading the way in the form of Mitch Leidner. His numbers won’t blow anyone away, but he’s more of a game-manager than anything. He has passed for 840 yards and five touchdowns with a 62 percent completion rate.
Rodney Smith and Kobe McCrary lead a strong run game with over 600 yards and seven touchdowns combined. Minnesota averages about 228 yards per game on the ground. These two teams are very similar and we can expect a ground-and-pound type of game.
