College Football Injury Report: Week 8
As we get over the halfway mark of the season, some teams are battling injury. While others are seeing the collegiate careers of players come to an end due to injury.
Week 8 showcases some key matchups, particularly for teams vying for their conference crown. Western Michigan’s backup running back is battling an ankle injury going into their annual rivalry game with Eastern Michigan.
Two ACC teams lost two key seniors for the season, ending their collegiate careers. This week’s injury report brings plethora of injuryies.
So without further adieu, here is this week’s College Football Injury Report for Week 8…
RB Jamauri Bogan, Western Michigan
Western Michigan running back Jamauri Bogan is probable this week with an ankle injury. He is expected to play, however. They play rival Eastern Michigan this week.
Bogan is the team’s second leading rusher on the team with 539 rushing yards and second on the team in rushing touchdowns with five.
At 7-0 and off to their best start in years, the Broncos need all their offensive weapons going into this game. Bogan’s injury could be one of those issues to flare up at gametime so it’s definitely something to watch for.
WR Jordan Westerkamp, Nebraska
Nebraska wide receiver Jordan Westerkamp is out for the second straight game this week due to a back injury. Outcome likely won’t matter, but this week they’ve got Purdue.
Westerkamp is the team’s second leading receiver with 228 passing yards and four touchdowns on the season.
It remains to be seen when Westerkamp can return. In the next two weeks, the Cornhuskers face Wisconsin and Ohio State on the road.
RB Vic Enwere, California
California running back Vic Enwere is out for the season due to a broken foot. The Golden Bears face Oregon this week.
Enwere is the Golden Bears second leading rusher with 336 rushing yards and tied for second on the team with two rushing touchdowns.
Running backs Khalfani Muhammad and Tre Watson will look to pick up the slack in Enwere’s absence. Muhammad leads the team in rushing with 377 yards.
WR Anthony Nash, Duke
Duke wide receiver Anthony Nash is done for the season due to a broken collarbone. He is the Blue Devils leading receiver this season.
The senior receiver’s career comes to an end after four seasons at Duke. Nash caught 29 passes for 398 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns this season.
He has caught 66 passes for 920 receiving yards and three touchdowns in his career at Duke. Fellow receiver T.J. Rahming will look to pick up the slack as he leads the Blue Devils in receptions this season.
WR Mack Hollins, UNC
Wide receiver Mack Hollins is done for the season due to a broken collarbone. Receivers Bug Howard and Ryan Switzer will need to pick up the slack in Hollins’ absence.
Hollins was set for a big season after catching a career-high 745 receiving yards last season.
Now, his collegiate career comes to an end early due to injury. He had 16 catches for 309 yards and four touchdowns this season.
Hollins finishes his career with 81 catches, 1,667 receiving yards, and 20 touchdowns.
G/OL Caleb Peterson, UNC
Offensive guard Caleb Peterson is out for the season due to back surgery. Peterson missed the last two games for the Tar Heels, hoping he could return.
The senior lineman had 30 consecutive starts under his belt before getting injured.
He was an All-ACC second team selection last season and has 42 career starts in his career at North Carolina.
The injury leaves the Tar Heels paper thin on the offensive line as he is the second Tar Heels lineman lost for the season..
