Check out how to stream this ACC Coastal game between the Virginia Cavaliers (2-8, 1-5 ACC) and the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets (6-4, 3-4).

Georgia Tech and Virginia are teams heading in opposite directions. The Yellow Jackets got bowl eligible last week and have already doubled their win total from last season. The Cavaliers are mired in a five-game losing streak and will almost certainly have their worst season since 2013 under first-year head coach Bronco Mendenhall.

The Yellow Jackets are one week removed from their biggest win of the season. Georgia Tech upset ACC Coastal leader Virginia Tech in Blacksburg 30-20. They prevented the Hokies from clinching the Coastal that night after Duke upset North Carolina a few days prior. Maybe most impressively the Yellow Jackets did it with their backup quarterback. Admittedly, Georgia Tech relies less on the quarterback throwing the ball than nearly any team in the country. However, the quarterback leads their triple-option attack. Sophomore Matthew Jordan rushed 32 times for 121 yards and two touchdowns. Senior Justin Thomas will be back under center for his final home game. Thomas is tenth in the ACC in rushing and only behind Heisman frontrunner Lamar Jackson for quarterbacks.

Virginia is searching for answers as to somehow salvage something positive from this season. Bronco Mendenhall seems to think the answer could be making a change at quarterback. Junior Kurt Benkert will take a seat in favor of senior Matt Johns.  It seems odd to turn to the quarterback who won’t be back in a lost season unless you are just desperate for any win. Benkert is fifth in the ACC in passing touchdowns with 20 but has thrown the second most interceptions (11). Johns beat the Yellow Jackets last year 27-21 in Charlottesville.
