Kansas State football player Scott Frantz came out as gay to his teammates on Thursday and said he never felt more accepted.

A trail that has been blazed by former Missouri defensive end Michael Sam who came out as the first openly gay college football player. That has given a voice to others who had been otherwise timid in regards to revealing that in a society that makes it such a big deal.

Well, another college football player spoke up on Thursday and came out as gay. Scott Frantz, a sophomore offensive tackle from Kansas State, came out publicly on Thursday after first telling his teammates back in 2015.

Their response? Welcoming. In today’s society, everyone deserves equal treatment, and Frantz got that, and more, when he came out to his teammates, he told ESPN.

"“I came out to my teammates, and I’ve never felt so loved and so accepted ever in my life than when I did that,” Frantz told ESPN’s Holly Rowe on Wednesday. “And ever since then it’s been great. I’ve grown so much closer to my teammates since. So it’s been an amazing experience.”"

How did it come up with teammates? Frantz, then in his redshirt season, was asked to reveal a personal secret in a team-building exercise in front of over 100 people. He decided to go right for the big one. His teammates responded by welcoming him with open arms and he’s felt like part of the family at Kansas State ever since.

With a legendary head coach like Bill Snyder running the ship at Kansas State, you can bet everything is treated with class and it’s no surprise his players reflect that.

Frantz was a first-team All-Big 12 Freshman tackle in 2016 as well as an All-Academic Big 12 selection. He started all 13 games for the Wildcats and is one of the top returning players in 2017.
