USC football moves closer to landing No. 1 RB Taylor Tatum
USC football is in a really good position to land elite running back Taylor Tatum and there are more positive signs for the Trojans.
At one time, it seemed like Michigan football was the favorite to land the top-ranked running back in the 2024 recruiting class — Taylor Tatum.
The Wolverines hosted him for an unofficial visit and it seemed like he was ready to join a program that really does believe in the ground-and-pound offense.
However, USC football made a major move when it hosted Tatum for an official visit on June 3rd. The Wolverines had a crystal ball at one point, but it has now flipped to USC football for the elite running back from the Lone Star State who rushed for 1,891 yards and 33 touchdowns last season while averaging more than eight yards per carry.
After all the expert projections favoring USC football, Tatum took another official visit to Oklahoma, which happened over the weekend.
USC football is the heavy favorite for Taylor Tatum
However, there isn’t much momentum for the Sooners coming out of the visit, but one thing is for sure — Michigan football is out of it.
EJ Holland of The Wolverine reported on Twitter on Monday that Tatum wouldn’t be taking his official visit to Michigan this weekend. The Wolverines landed another running back commitment over the weekend.
I don’t think that impacts their recruitment of Tatum, but I also don’t see him wanting to be part of a three-running-back recruiting class.
At any rate, USC football is the heavy favorite for Tatum, who is ranked 33rd overall in the 247 Sports composite rankings and a very highly-ranked four-star recruit. He’s the No. 1 running back and his addition would be massive for the Trojans in the 2024 class.
Lincoln Riley knows how to get elite skill players on offense and with the way the Trojans are recruiting, it’s like the Pete Carroll heyday once again.
