Links at Lunch: UGa, UF Suffer Losses; Robert Woods Flying High
By Kyle Kensing
Just as it appeared Mark Richt and Georgia were headed to better times with a third straight victory and divisional rivals Florida and South Carolina losing, the Bulldog head coach must suspend a top defensive performer per The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. Cornelius Washington is out two games after receiving a DUI this weekend. Aaron Torres of Crystal Ball Run asks if Washington’s absence dooms the Bulldogs in the race to lose to whichever team wins the West represent the East in the conference title game.
But UGa wasn’t the only divisional team with bad news over the weekend. Florida’s senior quarterback John Brantley suffered an injury Saturday against Alabama, leaving freshman Jeff Driskell under center where Alligator Army reports he will remain for the Gators’ match-up with LSU . Driskell’s a talented kid, but just that: a kid. His intitiation to college football is against the two best defenses in the nation. No freshman is going to succeed under those circumstances. Brantley scored UF’s lone touchdown against ‘Bama.
