And with long-tenured Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano NFL-bound, the conference had a total of 10 years’ experience that their current stops, between the seven guaranteed programs. Syracuse’s Doug Marrone is the Big East’s elder statesman now, and is entering his fourth season.
Oddly — or not, given the conference’s trend — Rutgers won the most recruiting service praise among its Big East brethren. The quick decision to keep Kyle Flood as head coach may or may not translate on the field, but it did help keep Schiano recruits in scarlet.
