NFL Draft Pulse: Top Targets By Conference
By Kyle Kensing
DraftPulse.com features thorough breakdowns of the 2012 NFL Draft class. Credit to the site for the prospect pods. Check it out throughout the weekend.
ACC
It’s fitting that the top targets from the ACC are on the defensive side. The majority of the conference’s players targeted this class overall are on defense, including Sean Spence, Chase Minnifield, and Jayron Hosley.
BIG EAST
Bruce Irvin is a likely 3-4 linebacker prospect, having dominated at defensive end in the Mountaineers’ 3-3-5 stack under Jeff Casteel. Mohamed Sanu is an interesting prospect: extra athletic with a wide ranging skill set.
BIG TEN
No surprise that the Big Ten boasts big beef on the front lines.
BIG 12
PAC-12
Stanford will have three first round picks, and tight end Coby Fleener should go highly. Interestingly, the three-year reigning conference champion Oregon Ducks are unlikely to get first round representation, proving winning and NFL talent aren’t necessary one and the same.
SEC
Supremely skilled defensive talent from the SEC will go at a premium.
