Wisconsin, Maryland Unveil 2012 Alternate Uniforms
By Kyle Kensing
adidas continues to roll out alternate uniforms for the 2012 season, today debuting Wisconsin’s threads for the Badgers’ trip to Nebraska on Sept. 29.
The big, bold letter mirrors the look adidas presented for Nebraska’s alternate uniform. The Cornhuskers’ uniform is so maligned, Twitter photos of the actual design provoked berating of the Nebraska equipment manager.
Both the helmet and jersey are also reminiscent of the victory flag flied over Wrigley Stadium when the Chicago Cubs win. If that did not immediately jump out at you, fret not. It’s rare for the Cubbies to use that flag these days. This is a lot more common (and change from blue to red, the possible future for Louisville):
Under Armour presented a new look for Maryland, as well. What constitutes an alternate and an every day uniform for the Terrapins is debatable, since they seem to change weekly. The state flag strip across the helmet elicited the description “50 Shades of Hideous” from Friend of the Blog Aaron Torres.
