Jordan Webb Wins Colorado QB Job, Athletic Bio Rips Big 12 Officiating

Colorado head coach Jon Embree named Kansas transfer Jordan Webb the Buffaloes’ starting quarterback for their Week 1 tilt against in-state rival Colorado State. Webb beat less experienced Connor Wood for the starting nod, but Webb’s winning of the competition is only one facet of newsworthy updates coming from Boulder.

Credit CBS Sports’ Matt Hinton for finding this one, SaturdayBlitz.com captured the below screenshot (for posterity, of course) of Webb’s bio. Highlighted is a particular hilarious editorial in the 2010 season, when CU was still a member of the Big 12 Conference. There appears to be some lingering hard feelings toward the Big 12.

Both CU and Nebraska announced their departure prior to the 2010 season. There’s no shortage of conspiracy theorists who believe as a result, the conference’s referees were less than genuine in their assessment of Buff and Cornhusker games. The gold standard for such assertions is Nebraska’s late November loss to Texas A&M. Oddly, the penalty discrepancy from the Nov. 6 CU-Kansas game was 11 penalties for 124 yards against the Jayhawks, and six penalties for 50 yards assessed against the Buffaloes.

KU rallied from behind 45-17 in the fourth quarter, sealing Dan Hawkins’ fate as CU head coach.

Webb was the Jayhawks’ quarterback for that rally, but had a run-in with new head coach Charlie Weis and was dismissed. Weis publicly chastised Webb and nine other players bounced from KU almost immediately after his hire from Florida, where Weis had been offensive coordinator one season.
