Jacksonville State, Former Georgia RB Washaun Ealey Arrested

The JSU Star confirmed Wednesday that Jacksonville State running back Washaun Ealey was arrested this morning.

Ealey transferred from Georgia in the spring of 2011 following two separate disciplinary suspensions. He landed at JSU shortly thereafter, and was the leading rusher for Jack Crowe’s Gamecocks, surpassing 1000 yards. He was used sparingly Saturday in a 49-24 loss at Arkansas, though, rushing four times for just nine yards.

Ealey was not Crowe’s first high profile SEC transfer to arrive on campus with off-field baggage. Ryan Perrilloux came to the Jacksonville, Ala. university in 2008 after a series of headline-grabbing transgressions while at LSU. I spoke to Crowe for a story on NCAA.com in 2009 about Perrilloux, and the longtime coach said Perrilloux entered into a rigorous personality conduct contract with both the football program and university. The demands expected of him, Crowe said, exceeded those of other students. Assuming Ealey entered into a similar agreement, he could face severe punishment.
