Arkansas Loses Injury-Plagued, Overtime Shocker to ULM
By Kyle Kensing
Sun Belt representative ULM stunned Fansided No. 8 Arkansas 34-31 in a wild game marred with injuries, including a possible broken collar to Razorback quarterback Tyler Wilson.
With top ranked Alabama looming next week, the Razorbacks could not put away the Warhawks in the second half. There were numerous injuries plaguing Arkansas’ effort, including to cornerback Tevin Mitchel, who was carted off the field in a frightening moment. His health takes precedent over the outcome ultimately.
For Arkansas, the loss is a dizzying addition to a trying series of months. The absence of Bobby Petrino on the sidelines was as evident as Wilson’s void left behind center. The Razorbacks’ BCS title hopes are dashed, barring a surreal chain of events to come. A part of the hypothetical surreality would have to be the Hogs finding an offensive identity with preseason Heisman candidate Wilson gone. His injury muddles the offensive picture for a unit that already lost its top three receivers from a season ago.
ULM has never reached a bowl game, but head coach Todd Berry has his Warhawks in unique position with a marquee victory. Quarterback Kolton Browning was the story for ULM, surpassing 400 yards passing on 42 completions, rushing for another 78 yards and scoring a combined four touchdowns.
