New UConn Football Helmet Debuts

Last week when UConn was forced to expedite its brand identity launch because of internet leaks, I wrote that the best scenario of the re-brand was getting football on the same page with the rest of the university. A new UConn football helmet, tweeted out via Instagram on Thursday, suggests that to be the case.

Connecticut appears to take an unconventional approach with the straight-ahead logo, which is the new Jonathan introduced last week. Previously, UConn football had a separate identity from the university’s other programs, using a big block “C” for its logo.

Today, April 18, was the originally scheduled launch date of UConn’s re-branding. Presumably, the new helmet was intended as part of the unveiling.
