Florida State QB Trickett Reportedly Visiting Auburn

Auburn QBs Kiehl Frazier and Jonathan Wallace battled for the QB1 spot all spring, but it still seemed realistic the eventual starter had not yet arrived on campus.
Of course, I thought that meant junior-college transfer Nick Marshall.
It made sense. First-year Tigers coach Gus Malzahn has, in two years with Auburn, made the decision to start a quarterback who missed the entire spring (Chris Todd) and another who transferred in from a junior college (Cam Newton – as if you didn’t know).
There could be a new contender in the race, though. Clint Trickett, who decided to transfer from Florida State after he apparently lost out on the QB1 race to potential superstar Jameis Winston, will reportedly visit Auburn.
Not coincidentally, Trickett’s QBs coach at Florida State before this year was Dameyune Craig – the new WRs coach and co-offensive coordinator at Auburn.
Trickett will graduate in May, meaning he would have immediate eligibility because of the graduate school rules. He would have two years to play two seasons.
More to the point, Trickett could immediately compete for the starting position wherever he decides to transfer.
A story that appeared on al.com said that Trickett is also reportedly considering Michigan, South Florida and West Virginia.
Whether or not Trickett ultimately chooses Auburn, it’s safe to say the QB competition is far from over and the coaching staff would like to add contenders.
