BYU running back Jamaal Williams was taken off the field from the Cougars’ game Saturday against rival Utah on a stretcher. Williams appeared to collide with a Ute defender after lowering his helmet while pushing for a first down. His body hit the turf at an almost horizontal angle.

Williams was on the turf for several minutes. The LaVell Edwards Stadium audience fell almost completely silent while BYU medical tended to him. Williams was reportedly taken to a nearby medical center for examination and treatment of unspecified injuries.

In a positive development, he reportedly has movement in his extremities.

The nation’s No. 3 rusher coming into Week 4, Williams had 52 yards at the time of his injury. He carried for 326 yards in the Cougars’ first two games.
