After beginning the season 0-4, and with their most recent, blowout 41-12 loss to Buffalo, the UConn Huskies fired their head football coach Paul Pasqualoni on Monday morning.
This decision isn’t all that surprising, seeing as cries for the coach’s ouster had begun to ring out following their embarrassing, opening week loss to Towson. A little over a week ago, things seemed to be on the upswing after Pasqualoni and his Huksies had the Michigan Wolverines on the ropes at home–a game in which they would lose 24-21–but the loss to Buffalo was just too much to bear.
Following their 2011 appearance in the Fiesta Bowl, Pasqualoni seemed, at the time, to be a solid hire when then head coach Randy Edsall left to go to Maryland. But, things just haven’t worked out. His teams have been less than competitive, to say the least.
Pasqualoni is the second BCS-level head coach to lose his job in the last 24 hours, this decision coming off the heels of USC firing Lane Kiffin–and we’re not even out of September yet.
