Big 12 Week 7 Preview

Game of the Week

Texas vs. Oklahoma (11 a.m. ABC)
Cotton Bowl, Dallas, Texas

The OU-Texas rivalry is one of the most heated in the nation, up until the last few years. Two consecutive blowouts for the Sooners have set up what could be Mack Browns final appearance in the game for Texas.

As noted in our Preview, the OU running game could have a big day going against the conferences weakest rushing defense.

The Rest of the Field

Kansas vs. TCU (11 a.m. FSN)
Amon G. Carter Stadium, Fort Worth, Texas

Heading into this contest in Fort Worth, Kansas has not recorded a conference victory in 22 games and seemingly will extend that to 23 games. However, TCU has not picked up a Big 12 at home and are struggling on offense.

The Horned Frogs offense was held scoreless in the first half against Oklahoma and had trouble throwing the ball around the field. Trevone Boykin led the Frogs back in the second half and had a chance to push TCU on top, but a underthrown ball would cost the Frogs the chance at the upset bid.

Iowa State and Texas Tech (11 a.m. FS1)
AT&T Jones Stadium, Lubbock, Texas

Baker Mayfield and company return to the field after a 54-16 blowout of Kansas last week. The Red Raiders put up 10 consecutive scores after falling down 10-0 in the first quarter.

Iowa State lost a heartbreaker to Texas in the previous week, seemingly winning on a fumble but not having the call go their way in the final minutes.

Baylor vs. Kansas State (2:30 p.m. FOX)
Bill Snyder Family Stadium

Baylor has put up 70+ points in the last three games and leads the nation in scoring per game. Kansas State has had trouble moving the ball around the field and if not careful, could move the Bears’ streak to four games.

Bryce Petty and Lache Seastrunk lead the conference in their respective positions and could rack up big numbers this Saturday.
