Two of the most notable offensive stars in Saturday’s Wisconsin Badgers-Northwestern Wildcats game came out with injuries in the first half.
Northwestern’s multipurpose running back Venric Mark made his return from a leg injury last week, but suffered another malady against Wisconsin. ESPN.com’s Joe Schad reports Mark will have an X-ray.
Mark’s erstwhile Heisman candidacy was snuffed out due to his injury. He has been limited, rushing for 89 yards on the season. He left Saturday’s game with three carries for eight yards.
Wisconsin wide receiver and big-play threat Jared Abbrederis came out with a head injury, and will not return.
Abbrederis entered Saturday’s game with 572 yards and four touchdowns to provide the Badger offense with much needed balance. He already hauled in his fifth scoring catch of the season before being pulled Saturday.
