TCU’s Devonte Fields Under Investigation For Pulling Gun On Ex-Girlfriend
By Ben Nielsen
TCU defensive end Devonte Fields is under investigation for allegedly pulling a gun on his ex-girlfriend and yelling “I should blast you.”
From Deanna Boyd of the Star-Telegram:
"There, 20-year-old Haley Brown, also a TCU student, told officers that Fields had apparently been standing outside the bedroom window listening to her talk to a mutual male friend. Brown told police Fields then punched out the window of their friend’s bedroom from the outside and began yelling at her.“Haley stated that she thought Devonte was holding a gun in one of his hands and stated that he pointed it at her,” the report states.“I should blast you!” he yelled at Haley, according to the report."
…
"“Haley stated that Devonte continued to yell at her and punched her in the face one time with a closed fist,” the report statesOfficers observed Haley’s right cheek to be swollen with a small cut under her eye. She refused to be taken to the hospital for further evaluation and told officers she did not want to pursue charges against Fields."
TCU released a statement regarding the matter, stating Fields will be ‘separated’ from the University pending the results of the investigation.
"“The University does not tolerate harassment or misconduct by a student. The university discipline process will be implemented which may result in disciplinary action from the University above and beyond any legal consequences the student might face.”"
Fields recorded 10 sacks and won the Big 12 player of the year award as a freshman before missing all of last season due to a suspension and a foot injury. Based on talent, Fields would be a first round pick in the 2015 draft should he prove to be healthy. This whole “I should bast you” situation may end that dream, however.
