8. Charlie Strong

Yes, this seems like a bad spot for coach Strong, but if we’re ranking coaches based on their merits within the conference, it’s difficult to rank him higher. We don’t know how well the Strong era will play out for Texas, but what we do know is he can recruit, has a great defensive mind and focuses on physical play. Boy is that needed in Austin. It took a little time to get Louisville to their back-to-back top 15 AP finishes in 2012 & 2013, but coach Strong and his staff built up a good program over four years, and helped UL gain access to the ACC.
