The TCU Horned Frogs have to prove that they belong with the big boys. It’s time. They can’t show anymore regression under Gary Patterson in the Big 12.

  • That doesn’t mean they have to make a jump back to a 10-win team this year, but they need to get back to a bowl.

Horned Frogs fans are reasonable to expect that. Non-conference games against Samford, Minnesota, and SMU should put them at a bare minimum of 2-1 before Big 12 play starts and very possibly 3-0. There are 4 of 5 more wins in the Big 12 when you factor in Texas Tech, West Virginia, Iowa State, and Kansas.

Keep in mind the Horned Frogs should be better in every phase of the game this year, and they beat Iowa State and Kansas and were a field goal away from West Virginia. They also lost to Kansas State by only 2 points, which is another potential win this year, and they were a field goal away from Oklahoma and Baylor.

All things taken into account, the Horned Frogs should have those first four Big 12 teams mentioned almost a lock for wins to get to 6, and Kansas State could get them to 7. There is plenty of room for more upsets in the Big 12 schedule, but a 7-5 record is more than reasonable for expectations.

TCU will be back in a bow again by the end of the season.
