ACC Coastal

3. Miami Hurricanes

Miami was good enough to win the Coastal last year, and from a talent perspective, they’re good enough to do it this year in Al Golden’s fourth year.

  • As a matter of fact, Miami is the best team in the Coastal and will beat the team that wins it. So why am I picking them to finish No. 3? Because the Hurricanes have to play at Virginia Tech and then Florida State, a sure loss. The schedule is the only reason keeping this team from playing for the ACC championship.

Duke avoids FSU and gets the Hokies at home. So they’ll go 7-1 in the conference while Miami goes 6-2. Virginia Tech will get the tiebreaker at No. 2. A road game against Louisville would appear to be death row for this team after losing to the Cardinals so badly last year, but they’ll get the Week 1 Upset.

The Hurricanes will likely go 9-3 on the season with a road loss to Nebraska added to the schedule. But the team is almost back.
