Are the Duke Blue Devils thinking repeat? David Cutcliffe has successfully turned Duke football into a Top 25 program, and with lots of starters back, this is a team looking to return to the ACC title game and hopefully have a much better showing than it did last year. With quarterback Anthony Boone having another year studying under the greatest quarterbacks coach in college football history, the offense should be fine this year and not make nearly as many mistakes.
Elon is an awful tune-up game though because you can’t learn anything about your team against them. This is a team that had 2 wins in FCS play last year and will do nothing to improve your team or show where it stands.
Prediction
Cutcliffe is not the type to embarrass opponents or massively run up scores, but he won’t be able to stop it this game. Duke destroys Elon in the most embarrassing way, and this is going to be the largest margin of victory for Week 1 of any ACC game. Book it.
