The Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets are on the decline in a serious way with Paul Johnson at the helm, with 6 to 8 wins in each of the past four years. If they are to turn that around, then Johnson needs to win every possible game he can and make a splash early. Wofford should be that for his team as he has to replace quarterback Vad Lee in his option offense. This publication is already on record saying that the bottom will fall out on the Yellow Jackets this year, and the first step to proving that wrong is with a big win on Saturday.
Wofford, meanwhile, should be an easy pushover for Tech. Even if they do impress everybody with a blowout win, this is a team that was bad in FCS play last year and shows no signs of fighting against Georgia Tech. Whatever Georgia Tech does this game may simply be a tune-up, but it won’t prove anything.
Prediction
The fall of the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets does not start this week. They play an extremely weak Wofford team, and Johnson’s option offense should torch it, even if it won’t do that the rest of the year. He’ll be exposed for some troubles that will face his team all year without enough personnel to run the system, but it won’t matter here. Tech wins this easily.
