Georgia Southern at N.C. State
Line: N.C. State by 20.5

FanSided
The N.C. State Wolfpack are looking to have a bounce-back season in head coach Dave Doeren’s second year, and with plenty of returning starters and better health, that is possible. Doeren will still need to find stability at the quarterback position, but if he can do that, and if the Wolfpack can manage to stay healthy throughout the season, there are some chances to jump from 3-9 to 6-6, but they can’t take the first game lightly.
Georgia Southern is a team that went 7-4 last year as barely an FBS team, including beating Florida on the road. This year there are returning starters all over the field, most notably almost the entire defense and quarterback Kevin Ellison, who will be the focal point of an offense that relies heavily on running the football. This is a very dangerous team that the Wolfpack can’t sleep on.
Prediction
N.C. State will have lots of trouble with the Georgia Southern rush-heavy offense, as it is unlike anything they will see all year. That will keep the Eagles in the game through the second half before the Wolfpack finally pull away. But it won’t be easy and they won’t cover the spread. At least it’ll be a nice test for the team.
