  • The Boston College Eagles made a huge splash in the ACC Steve Addazio’s first season, going 7-6 and making a bowl game. But with so much talent gone, this is going to be another first year, and Addazio will have a hard time avoiding what happened his second season at Temple. Boston College will stay in the state for its opening game at Massachusetts, and this will be a good measuring stick for all of the young players that will have to be inserted into the lineup.

UMass went a pathetic 1-11 last year and was blown out by nearly everybody, so the Minutemen can’t get any worse. Perhaps they can show some slight improvement this year with so many returning starters, and Boston College is a great game to showcase any improvement. It won’t happen.

    Prediction

The Boston College Eagles will have an easy time with this one, despite all of the young talent. Addazio will rely heavily on the running game as he did last year, and they’ll torch the Minutemen for a couple of long runs to cover the spread.

    Boston College: 28 Massachusetts: 10
